Elementary students had better excuses

The hearing of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr’s disqualification case before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) was slated for today. The coward was a no-show. The criminal has been convicted of tax evasion by the lower courts several years ago and now he faces three petitions for his disqualification. He keeps on submitting dubious documents as he tries to worm his way out of this one.

I wish this was a satire or a joke. BUT IT IS NOT! OMG! Even my kids could make up better excuses than this. *facepalm* People online are joking that we now have a new Covid variant called Zoomicron, which can be transmitted through Zoom.

No, you can’t make this up. It’s too stupid. But here it is, it’s all over the news.

One of the Commissioners is now livid.

They want to delay this as long as they can so he can continue to run even though he is a convicted criminal.

Meanwhile, we stocked up on KN95/KN94 masks because double masking with surgical + cloth for a better fit doesn’t cut it anymore.

Yep, the growth is exponential. Good luck to all of us. I was chatting with a source last night and he projected that we will be hitting 50k cases by Monday and then 100k towards the end of the month. By Feb this will taper off but before that, all of us would have caught it by then. He told me he already stocked up on oxygen tanks and meds. Forget about hospitals, he told me, we are incapable of getting help from the hospitals now. I told my sisters that they should make sure the oxygen tank at home is filled up just in case my mom gets hit again.

So 2022 is like a repeat of 2021, only that we are just too tired of the shit of last year. Year 3 of bullshit. So people are now turning to little things like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson taking on Cookie Monster on Twitter for some amusement.

I envy my cats. No stress, no problems. The only stressors they have are my two-legged children disturbing their peace.

If Marcos Jr wins, it will be worse than having Duterte for the second time. OMG 😱

We need to reach out to the masses. I want to render my services for free as a communication strategist for Team Robredo. They have no unifying theme. 🤦🏻‍♀️ The campaign is organic, yes, but it lacks cohesiveness as a result. The messaging is undefined. The actionable message is lacking, there is no aspirational thrust.

We need to do something!!!

I had been refraining from writing anything political during the Christmas break because I don’t want to be stressed out. So I’ve been writing about inane stuff to take my mind off stressors like the thing above 🤦🏻‍♀️

So back to inconsequential stuff, I picked up my glasses and contacts in Cubao, then went to Tiendesitas to buy cat supplies. Because I’m still a bit apprehensive about dining out indoors, I still wear two masks (surgical and cloth) and sunglasses in lieu of face shield. Because I still haven’t had my booster shot yet. I’ve been trying to book online but there’s no schedule yet for A3 people for QC. After experiencing Covid, I’m more adamant at having the vax ASAP.

I then jumped to Makati to get myself another pair of shoes before I pick up the girls from the airport at around 5 pm.

Wrong move. There were a lot of people!!! Like there’s no more pandemic and omicron is just another Greek letter that doesn’t mean anything. It gave me some heebie-jeebies. Because of this, I wasn’t able to find that pair of shoes I need because it seems like face-to-face press conferences and meetings will be more frequent next year and I don’t have enough good shoes for such occasions.

I think I would have to buy online and grin and bear it if the pair of shoes turns out to be painful to wear. 😬

Meanwhile, my APAC boss said HQ is working out an arrangement that I don’t have to be in Singapore to take on my new role next year. Hopefully, it would push through. If they can’t give me the salary I want (it should be above SGD 14k because that’s the minimum with primary school children) and not just the minimum requirement that the Singapore government demands, then it’s a no-go.

If only sending kids to school there is not that expensive. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why the trauma?

Because when you loved someone so much, more than anybody in your life like that, and you get that kind of treatment, it’s traumatizing.

Yes, I’ve never loved anyone like that in my life. In the past I’ve had the courage to walk away. Not this time.

I don’t think I’ll ever love like that again. I no longer have any love to give.

So I just pray that the next person will love him more than I did because he rejected mine since it was not enough.

And as for me, I pray that I will get my peace. That’s all I ask for. Peace.

Coping mechanism

We remain the laughingstock of the world and the Dutertes and Marcoses and the Arroyos are the clowns who manipulate the Filipinos to perpetuate their greed. What I am worried about is the complacency of the opposition as they remain in their echo chambers, thinking that the echoes are the vox populi. Not so. Talk to the street vendors, the farmers, the fishermen, the vegetable sellers in the urban and rural places. They are voting for Marcos as they lap up all the propaganda crap that radio and GMA Network have been propagating. They do not have access to Internet; if they do, they can’t spend precious pesos on data. They don’t own smart phones; if they do, they may not have the cellular signal for internet. The C, D, E markets comprise the bulk of the electorate. A-B markets are just the small percentage and we often do not reach out to the grassroots.

The fight is in the grassroots.

I no longer have to buy and use charcoal. I’ve been polluting my neighbors’ houses for so long. Whoppeee! And it’s easier to cook. No need to spend 30 mins to an hour trying to keep the embers going.

To cope with the unsavory news stories that keep popping up on my newsfeeds (and I really can’t tune out because I am a journalist), I indulged again and cooked a nice dinner for all of us. The burgers were juicy and nicely smoked.

The burgers were for the girls and Ate C. Mine was a small salmon steak with mashed potato and basil.

It’s easy to disassemble for cleaning. It packs away nicely so this is perfect for camping, together with the other portable stove that I first bought from Sarang Mart. It’s nice to grill chicken, hotdogs and marshmallows here while outside the tent as the sun goes down. I found another camping site where we could go, probably by January or February when it’s cooler and not rainy.

To cope with the negativity around me, I must do the things that I love. Travel and be with nature. Simple wants and simple needs.

It’s like a never-ending cycle. A friend who is in Spain now says people’s attitude there is like there’s no more pandemic. No one is wearing masks there. They go about their business like it’s nothing. She still does though, as a precaution.

And now you have this. When will they ever learn???

My second dose was in May, so it has been six months. I need a booster. I don’t want to get Covid again. Hell no. Once is enough. I have this aversion now to humans in tight spaces. Or even in the open if their number is above five.

Meanwhile, we’re headed for disaster.
